THE HAT HAIR NIGHTMARE!

26th Apr 2020

Winter has arrived and it has come with a chill! At De Lorenzo HQ all we want to do is wear a big woolly hat and scarf to work everyday. But most people avoid wearing a hat because of the dreaded ‘hat hair’ look we have all been victim to at some stage. Luckily, we have some great hairstyle options which suit a warm and woolly accessory perfectly!

The Side Chignon

A low and loose chignon sitting on the side of your head is the perfect style to keep your hair looking fabulous when wearing a hat, and will stay securely in place once you remove your beanie!

Start by prepping your hair with Elements Sea Swell, a volumising lotion to add natural style, control and fullness to the hair. Next sweep the hair back into a relaxed, low, side ponytail and tie loosely. Once secure, twist and pin the hair into a bun, letting pieces fall loosely around the face. Set with a spray of Elements Vapour Mist, our medium hold hairspray. Your hat should sit comfortably without covering the chignon, meaning you can show off your chic do even in the cold!

Braided Beauty

The braid is always a good go-to – quick and easy hairstyle. A loose side braid means you can take your hat on and off as many times as you need without the worry of flat or limp hat hair!

Begin by washing your hair using our Instant Allevi8 Shampoo & Conditioner. This anti-frizz range is great for taming any unnecessary flyalways and smoothing down the hair thanks to its infusion of Kakadu Plum, Cactus Flower and Yukka. Next, spray the hair with our Essential Treatments Infinite Detangler to make styling easier. This little gem also hydrates and nourishes the hair with ingredients such as Wheat Protein and Organic Rosehip – great for Winter dryness! To style, plait hair into a loose braid allowing a few stray hairs to sit loosely around the face – this gives a relaxed and stylish finish to your look.

Curls

Glamourous Waves

If you are a strict ‘hair down only’ kind of girl, then this one is for you. As it’s tricky to keep straight hair looking slick all day long when it’s stuck under a hat or beanie, putting a few curls through the hair will add body to your look and keep it looking voluminous.

Prep your hair using our Instant Accentu8 Shampoo & Conditioner to add bounce and movement. Before blow drying and curling your hair, spray through some Defence Extinguish – a heat protection spray designed to prevent unnecessary heat damage and split ends. Once blow dried, curl your hair into loose waves and finish with a spray of Elements Granite Lacquer. This will help support those areas that are prone to being squished by a hat and will provide sustainable hold. Then, slip your beanie on for a fashionable and on trend look!

Don’t let the fear of hat hair keep you from staying warm with a cosy hat this winter!
