When we hear the word perm we often think of 80’s frizz, but that’s not the case anymore, todays perms are all about creating a look for you.

The Education team at De Lorenzo have been teaching hairdressers various perming techniques used to create customised looks. The use of large rollers to create a soft gentle curl, similar to what can be achieved with a barrel tong.

If you love a little more curl, using a variety of roller sizes will create texture. A directional perm can help keep a “flicked” look in place or redirect a stubborn cowlick that just won’t cooperate!

Men are leading the way!

In today’s market, men are taking advantage of perms to style their hair. Young men and many sports stars are posting on social media their hairstyles supported by perms and perpetuating the trend. Men are taking advantage of the new soft wavy look, or curly texture and of course the mullet perm has been a big hit!

Always prepare your hair and spray in  Extinguish Thermal Spray to protect your curls before using heat to gently dry them.

Elements Motion and Revive Moisture Repair is one mix I love! This gives a beautiful hold and no crunch so you can apply it to damp hair, gently dry and finish with a little Afterglow to add your shine in.

Textured Curls

If I want more texture and hold in my Curl I love  Sea Swell, Amplify or Densify depending on hair texture.  The Ends will seal and smooth the curls and finish styling with Non-aerosol Granite to add a little crunch so the texture in your curl will last all day.

More Natural Curls

For more natural curls  Barrel Wave is our curl defining cream and it is great on its own to create a soft hold and will keep your curls in place, I would recommend using  Satur8 our weightless hydrating foam with Barrel Wave to add moisture once the hair starts to dry. Add a little  Vapour Mist to put that natural hold in once your hair is dry.
