De Lorenzo was the first Australian Haircare Company to acquire certification in both Quality Management (ISO 9001) and GMP (Manufacturing). Let’s find out what this means and how important it is for Manufacturing in Australia, to the highest standards measurable.
Melinda Mason is the Loyalty Program Manager for De Lorenzo Preferred Salons and Manager for Quality Assurances certification. We asked Mel to explain what De Lorenzo assurance certifications means for you.
Hi Mel, tell us about De Lorenzo's quality assurance certifications?
“De Lorenzo has held Quality Assurance Certification for over 15 years now and was the first Australian Haircare Company to acquire certification in both Quality Management (ISO 9001) and GMP (Manufacturing). We are currently the only Australian Haircare Company who holds the GMP Certification. What this means for you, our customers, is that we are assessed and certified on an annual basis by an external company to ensure that all our processes and products are safe, effective and meet the requirements of the worldwide industry quality standards. The process to become certified and maintain these certifications is extremely stringent and something that each and every employee of De Lorenzo is trained in and works towards. The integrity and safety of our products are paramount in ensuring they meet your expectations each and every time!”
What does GMP stand for and why is it so important?
“GMP stands for Goods Manufacturing Practice and is a system for ensuring that our products are consistently produced and controlled according to set industry standards. Quality Management covers all our internal documentation and processes to get the product to the manufacturing stage. GMP covers the manufacturing process and is an important aspect of our day to day operations. This component covers our way of working to ensure that all products are: consistently manufactured; to a quality appropriate for intended use; and that the product manufactured is fit for purpose (safe, meets/exceeds customer expectation, correct material is used, correctly labelled, securely sealed and free from contamination).
GMP, Quality, Safety and Environmental Factors are fundamental issues to the business ethos of De Lorenzo and are given high priority at all times – we do everything we can to protect our customers, our staff, our visitors and the integrity of the products we produce.
It ensures you, our customers, receive benchmark levels of products and service at all times.”
What do you love most about working at DL?
“There are so many things I love about working at De Lorenzo but the number one thing would be our products and the fact that they are 100% Australian made. Being able to walk downstairs and see and smell the products being made each and every day is a highlight! Even after 10 years, the thrill is still there when you see a product concept come to life and out on the shelves of our Salons and hearing the feedback of excited customers.”
